A case of Paragonimiasis with Pleural Effusion

Abstract

|
A 50 year-old man was admitted with right exudative pleurisy persisting in spite of antitubercylous medications for one year. He was Complaining of Productive rough, but no bloody sputum and dyspnea. Chest X-Ray film on admission revealed right pleural effusion without any evidences of nodular or ring shodow throughout lung fields. Several P.W ova test of stool, sputum and pleural fluid were negative, but skin test and micro-ELISA test for P.W. were strongly positive. Also Pleural biopsy showed granulomatous pleuritis and ova considered P.W. ova. He was treated with Praziquantel and repeated thoracentesis with good result.
